About Thai Yoga Massage

What Makes Thai Yoga Massage special and beneficial…

Thai Yoga Massage (TYM) is different from other forms of bodywork because it is received fully clothed on a comfortable floor surface and it integrates passive yoga postures. Thai massage seeks to restore the flow of energy through the body by working (thumbing and palming) along the body’s sen (energy) lines. Working the sen lines also helps to stretch and release the client’s muscles and fascia.

After a session clients often feel relaxed, centered, and energized. They also report feeling more mentally focused and having an increased range of motion.

While the history of TYM is not perfectly clear, it is generally understood to be part of the larger Ayurvedic tradition and probably related to traditional Chinese medicine.

Special to TYM, this form of bodywork is fine to receive on the same day as strong physical activity such as a rehearsal, training, performance, or game. If received before physical activity, TYM can help to focus and hone energy. If received after physical activity, TYM can help to relax and restore.
